My Grandfathers Clock

My grandfathers clock was too tall for the shelf

so it stood ninety years on the floor, it was

taller by half than the old man himself, but it
   6     6  6 -5 5    -5    6     -7  7    -8
weighed not a penny weight more.  It was bought
-7  -6  6   -5  6   -6  6   -5  5   -4   -7  7
on the morn on the day that he was born, it was 
-8  -7  -6  6   -5   6   -6     -4  -4    6
always his treasure and pride.  But it stopped,
 -6    -7 -7 -7 7  -7 5   -6  -6   6   -5  6
short, never to go again when the old man died.

Ninety years without slumbering, (tick tock
 -3   -4   -4    6     -4 -4   5 5 -4     -3
tick tock) his life's seconds numbering (tick
 -4   -3   -4  -4    6     -6   -7 -7 -7  7
tock tick) but it stopped short never to go

again, when the old man died
