-2* -2* -3 -3 4*
Oh, the streets of Rome
-2* 4* -2* -3 1*
are filled with rub-ble,
-5 6 6 6 -2* 4* -2* -3
An-cient foot-prints are ev-‘ry-where.
-2* -3 4* 4* -3 -3
You can al-most think that
 -2* 6 6 5* -3
you're see-in' dou-ble
-2* -3 6 6 5*-4 -4 -3 4* 4* -4 -3
On a cold dark night on the Span-ish Stairs.

-4 -4 -4 -4 -4 -4 -4 -3 3 -3 4*
Got to hur-ry on back to my ho-tel room,
  -3 -4 -4 -4 -3 -4 -4
Where I've got me a date with
 6 6 5* -3 5*
Bot-ti-cel-li’s niece.
-3 6 6 -4 -3 6
She prom-ised that she'd be
  6 6 5* -3
right there with me
 -2* -3 6 5* -4 -4 -3 -3
When I paint my mas-ter-piece.

-3 -3 4* -3 4*
Oh, the hours I've spent
-3 -3 -2* 4*-2*-3 1*
in-side the Col-i-se-um,
 -5 6 6 6 -2* 4* -2* -3
Dodg-ing li-ons and wast-in' time.
-2* -3 4* 4* 4* 3 -2* -3 -3
Oh, those might-y kings of the jun-gle,
-3 -2* 6 6 6 6 5* -3
I could hard-ly stand to see 'em,
-2* -3 6 6 5* -3 5* 5* -4 -3
Yes, it sure has been a long hard climb.

 -4 -4 -4 -4 -4
Train wheels run-nin' thru
-4 -4 -4 -3 4* 4*4*
the back of my mem-o-ry,
 -3 -4 -4 -4 -3 -4 -4
When I ran on the hill-top
 6 6 6 6 5* -3 -3 5*
Fol-low-ing a pack of wild geese.
 6 6 6 6 -4 -3 6 6 6
Some-day, ev-‘ry-thing is gon-na be
  5* -3 -3 -3 -2* -3
Smooth like a rhap-so-dy,
-2* -3 6 4* -4 -4 -3 -3
When I paint my mas-ter-piece.

 -3 -3 -3 -3 -2*
Sail-in' 'round the world
-3-2* -3 -4 -3 4* 4*
in a dir-ty gon-dol-a,
4* 4* 4* 4* 4* -4 -3 -2* 6 -6*65*-3-44*
Oh, to be back in the land of Co-ca-Co-la!

4* 4* 4* -2* 4* 4* -2* -3 1*
I left Rome and land-ed in Brus-sels,
-5 6 6 6 6 6 6
On a plane ride so bump-y
 5* -2* 5* -2* -3
that I al-most cried.
-2* -3 4* 4* 4*-2* -3 -3 -3
Oh those cler-gy-men in un-i-form
-2* 6 6 6 6 5* -3
and young girls pull-in' mus-cles,
-2* -3 6 6 6 6 5* -4
Ev-‘ry-one was there to greet me
 -4 -3 4* 4* -4-3-2*2
when I stepped in- side.

 -4 -4 -4 -4 6 -3 4* 4*
News-pa-per-men eat-ing can-dy
-4 -3 -4 -4 6 6 4* -3 4*
Had to be held down by big po-lice.
 6 6 6 6 -4
Some-day, ev-‘ry-thing
-3 6 6 6 5* -3
is gon-na be dif-f'rent
 6 6 6 -3 5* 5* -4 -3
When I paint my mas-ter-piece.
