MORETON BAY TRADITIONAL

 4 4 4 4 5 6 7 -6 -6 7
One sun-day morn-ing as I went walk-ing

6 5 4 4 -4 5 -4 4 4
By bris-bane wat-ers I chanced to stray

4 4 4 4 5 6 7 -6 -6 7
I heard a con-vict his fate be-wail-ing

-6 6 5 4 4 -4 5 -4 4 4
As on the sun-ny riv-er bank he lay

6 6 6 6 -6 -6 7 -6 -6 7 -6
I am a nat-ive of E-rins is-land and

 6 5 4 -4 5 -4 4 4
Ban-ished now from my nat-ive shore

 4 4 4 4 5 7 -6 -6 7
They tore me from my a-ged par-ents

 -6 6 5 5 -4 4 -4 4 4
And from the maid-en whom I a-dore

2.
Ive been a prisoner at port Macquarie
At Norfolk island and emu plains
At Castle Hill and cursed Toongabbie
At all those settlements ive worked in chains
But of all places of condemnation and penal
stations of new south wales to
moreton bay I have found no equal
excessive tyranny each day prevails

3.
For three long years I was beastly treated
And heavy irons on my legs I wore
My back with flogging lacerated
And often painted with crimson gore
And many a man from down right starvation
Lies mouldring now underneath the clay
The captain logan he had us mangled on
The triangles of moreton bay

ENJOY!!
